Jul. 1st, 2008 05:10 pmHi, peoples. I've been offline since the last entry, so I've got bazillions of flist entries to catch up on as well as a couple of comments and emails to get back to. I should be getting around to that today, but who knows what might go wrong. It's nearly the Fourth, Brother Creature has fireworks, I wish I were joking. And my computer blue screened me when I turned it on. I'm anticipating smoke and melting plastic at any moment.
To briefly address the contents of the last entry, everyone's doing okay. Mom's taking it the hardest, but Buttons was her dog, really. It'll take some time. Things have been easiest on me: I wasn't as attached, and I didn't go with her on that final trip to the vet. So yeah. That's that.
On to greener pastures. Only not really 'cause greener pastures are where sheep lurk, and where sheep lurk awaits sheep poo. No one wants that. Unless you've got some really bizarre kinks, and I think everyone's better off not knowing if that's the case.
We went to the zoo yesterday, which coincidentally also has green pastures and assorted poo. It was at the zoo that I discovered my new Outrageous Gift Pet. Forget ponies, I want a steenbok. (That's apparently from the St. Louis Zoo, so it may well be the same steenbok I saw.) Look at him! He is tiny and adorable, all big dark eyes and spindly legs. I cooed at him involuntarily, that's how cute he is. The best part of the day was probably seeing the giant reticulated python yawn. It doesn't sound that thrilling if you're... people who aren't me. But if you are people who are me, it's pretty damned cool.
